2022 Strassenfest Preview

Jasper- This year, Strassenfest will be a little different.

Due to the ongoing Courthouse Square Revitalization and Infrastructure project downtown, the annual celebration has been moved to 4th Street in Jasper. With the change of location, there is also other new items.

First the Parade route has been updated to travel starting at 15th and Jackson streets, then heads downtown and turns west on 9th street, then makes it final turn North onto Main Street ending at 15th and Main.  With the route change, there is some updated guidelines for participants explains committee member Corie Eckerle.

“On the Parade Form, tractor trailers aren’t the best option. Since you do not have the complete circle to go around you may want to limit your entry to something more feasible. Maybe take that route, see what vehicle would work best and if something is too large, scale it back and have a people presence rather than a big attraction presence.”

Even with all the change, many of the activities and booths that people have seen for years will still be in attendance. For the booths, Eckerle explains there is not much difference from years past.

“The great part is our transition to the fourth street location has not scared anyone away. We still have our same booths from previous years. We have it segmented where our food booths will be on Jackson and Mill and the carnival rides will be on Fourth Street between Third Avenue and Fifth Street. And then we’ll have more of our take and go or maybe desserts in the cultural center parking lot.”

For entertainment, there is number of artists and performers coming to the Willkommen Stage, located across from the Culture Center Parking lot, is:

On Saturday:

Kentucky Shine- 7:30pm

Band on the Run: A tribute to Paul McCartney- 8:30pm

Strassenfest 2022 kicks off Thursday, August 4th and runs through Sunday August 7th.
