2020 Ferdinand Heimatfest Has Been Cancelled Due to COVID-19 Concerns

FROM LOCAL SOURCES

FERDINAND – The Ferdinand Heimatfest Committee has announced this year's event will be cancelled due to COVID-19, according to a statement released Tuesday.

"It was our intention to hold out as long as we could before making any final decisions regarding this year’s fest; however, the announcement of Indiana’s Back on Track plan this past Friday will not permit us to proceed with this year’s fest as we had planned as they are not allowing any fairs or festivals to proceed until at least July 4," the statement read.

"We want to thank all of our Vendors and Organizations that have worked hard preparing for the event. We look forward to working with all of you each year and know that a lot of time goes into getting ready for this event. This event would not be possible without you or our Sponsors."

Organizers say they still plan to host the Jeep Run, Teen Ambassador Award, Golf Scramble, and annual raffle drawing. Raffle drawing will take place on June 20th and winners will be notified. Raffle envelopes have been mailed out to households in the Ferdinand community, and can be mailed back to PO Box 133.

"If you wish to help support us by purchasing a raffle ticket, please contact Sue Fink (812-630-2839) or Neil Weyer (812-661-2711). All entries must be received prior to the June 20th drawing date. Please check our website or Facebook page in the coming days for information regarding the Jeep Run and Teen Ambassador Award."

The 8th Annual Heimatfest Golf Scramble, presented by Tretter & Company Jewelers and benefitting Forest Park Boys and Girls Golf, is scheduled to take place on Sunday June 14th at Christmas Lake Golf Course with a 2:00 PM ET shotgun start time. More information about the event will be available in the coming weeks. For more information, please contact Chris Tretter at 812-639-7813 or at [email protected].
