“Little Wildcats” Daycare Approved by GJCS School Board

Jasper- In an effort to support the Faculty of Greater Jasper Consolidated, the corporation’s School Board approved Superintendent Dr. Lorey’s proposed child care program.

The program, which Dr. Lorey referred to as “Little Wildcats”, would be held in the HOSA classroom at Jasper High School. All staff members of the school corporation are eligible to use the program, said Dr. Lorey. Acceptance into the care is on a first come first serve basis, with wanting to continue with care the next school year having the opportunity to do so.

“We wanted to try and find ways to add value to our employees,” said Dr. Lorey.

Staff would drop their children off at 7:30 am eastern. There is a rate cost associated with care. The care will be overseen by staff members the corporation hires.

The program is similar to other programs schools in the northern portion of the state have.

The goal is to have the daycare operational before the 2023-24 school year.
