Trent Sisley Commits: Former Heritage Hills Patriot, Future Indiana Hoosier
"They were all super proud of me, and super excited for me," Sisley said of his family's reaction. "They had an idea before I did it, and then my extended family, I told after I did commit."
In the Sisley family, Trent didn't have to go far for guidance - both father, Matt, and brother, Blake, played basketball collegiately.
"You're listening to a lot of people, a lot of people have a lot of opinions," Sisley said. "Just trying to keep your opinion, and then obviously talk to your family a bunch, and people close to you that you can trust... I just kept the main thing the main thing the whole time."
As with any decision, a number of factors contributed to the final result. For Sisley, the relationships with Head Coach Mike Woodson and scheme fit moved the needle in Indiana's direction.
"The opportunity and fit for me there this year and going forward, and then my relationship with Coach Woodson and the staff is amazing," Sisley said. "The staff, the players, the whole way down. It's just a great opportunity for me to come in and help them."
As a junior at Heritage Hills, Sisley logged 24.2 points-per-game, 11.4 rebounds, and shot 34 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. The 18-year-old says he's comfortable at both the small forward ("3") and power forward ("4") spot at the next level.
"Whatever they need and whatever I'm better at," Sisley said. "Playing the 3/4 position and using my versatility to help me."
Prior to his senior season of high school, Sisley made the decision to enroll in the Montverde Academy in Florida, foregoing his senior season at Heritage Hills in Lincoln City. While Sisley's new schedule may give him an advanced look at his upcoming collegiate schedule and lifestyle, the competition certainly does.
Go to class in the morning, and then take care of schoolwork, and then head to practice in the afternoon," Sisley said. "Lift a few days a week after work. We're pretty focused down here, everyone's pretty driven, obviously. It's good to be around guys like yourself day in and day out".
While rankings widely vary from one media outlet to another, Sisley cracks the "Top 100" in all of them.
Sisley will wrap up his high school career at Montverde Academy this winter before setting his sights on Bloomington in the summer of 2025.
WITZ previously sat down with Sisley to discuss his recruitment process, the article is available here.
