An Exclusive Inside View of the New-Look Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium

By Kris Norton

Jasper - Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium, the home of the Jasper Wildcats, is nearing completion of a complete remodel.

While the 3,000-plus seat venue doesn't venture far from the previous capacity, that's where the similarities between past and present end. An 11,000 square foot addition on the home side of the stadium will house two new locker rooms, coaches' offices, 'hydro room', and restrooms nearly tripling the previous capacity.

To the north and south, re-worked entrances welcome patrons to the Home of the Wildcats.

Perched atop the 30-row bleachers, complete with Booster Club seatbacks, sits a new, partitioned press box.

Though many photos are taken mid-construction, the Stenftenagel Group, and Jasper Administration aims to complete the project February 28th, 2024.

Below, you will find images collected on a walkthrough with Jasper Athletic Director Phil Kendall, Principal Geoff Mauck, and Todd Hopf of the Stenftenagel Group. Images are grouped into categories.

Bleacher Amenities

The home and the away stands have been completely rebuilt. While the student section and band seating remain untouched, everything outside of the track has been re-imagined.

The previous configuration saw the home stands span from goal line to goal line and stretch 15 rows deep. Now, the bleachers reach 30 rows high while providing seating from one 20-yard line to the other. Underneath the home stands, stretching to the new locker room facility (right), will be a concrete concourse, ideal for gathering.

On the first tier of the stands, fans will find wheelchair access and seating, as well as wide walkways and standing room. Stairways lead patrons down to the lowest level of seating, nearest the field.

Above is a trackside view from the south 20-yard line.

Front and center sits the most colorful addition to Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium. Booster Club seat backs alternate Jasper black and gold over a stretch of 30 seats wide and 14 rows deep - a total of 420 premium seats.

Atop the stadium stands a completely rebuilt press box. The center section will be home to the public address announcers, statisticians, WITZ Radio and opposing radio. To either side sits a glass-separated, and air conditioned, coaches box.

The newly assembled visitor stands can be seen on the opposite end of the field.

Locker Room Facility

Initial construction of the locker room facility ran concurrent with the 2023 Jasper Football season. The 11,000 square foot compound will house the Jasper Football locker room to the north side, and the Girls Track locker room to the south. The Girls Track locker room will double as the visitors' lockers during the football season.

In the Wildcats' home locker room, 36-inch wide lockers were selected not only to fit each players equipment and belongings, but to provide for better ventilation.

An opening between locker bays will allow for the team to meet as a group to review tape on a large digital display on the eastern wall, as pointed out by Jasper Athletic Director Phil Kendall. The windows at the end of the locker room lead into Jasper Head Coach Tony Lewis' office.

To the opposite end of the building sits the Girls' track locker room.

Situated in between the pair of locker rooms: the officials' locker rooms, training room, laundry room, and a 'hydro room". The Hydro room, pictured below, will include two tubs for ice baths, in addition to an ice machine and water refill station.

Nearest the 50-yard line, as with the previous stadium, a tunnel will lead the Wildcats through the common area and out onto Joe Rohleder Field. Principal Geoff Mauck looks out onto the field from the tunnel.

Amenities

A new, 'state-of-the-art' concession stand will await Jasper fans. Located on the field side of the locker room building, three wide retractable doors will provide for more streamlined service. A designated grilling area will be marked between the new locker room building and the old facility.

Having to miss football action in line for the restroom will not be an issue at the new Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium. The new building has nearly tripled restroom capacity on the home side.

The women's restroom (below), located on the north side of the new building, will boast 18 stalls.

The men's restroom will also see upgrades.

A family restroom will be located on the eastern, field side, of the facility.

Revamped Entrances

No longer will temporary tents mark the entryways. The north side entrance has undergone minor changes outside of the installation of a new ticket booth. The south side, however, has undergone extensive alterations. The official south entryway has been moved from the southeast end closer to the southwest. This entryway nearest the Schroeder Complex will line up closer to the home side.

From atop the stands, on the right-hand side lies concrete slabs for discuss and shotput events. A pole vault area will also be added on the home side of the stadium.

The north entrance alongside the main parking lot will maintain a relatively familiar positioning.
