TRAFFIC ALERT: Semi Trailer Fire Backs up 1-64 East

Warrick Co. - The Indiana State Police Evansville District is currently cleaning the scene of a semi trailer fire on I-64 in Warrick County.

Sergeant Todd Ringle says that a semi carrying a trailer full of motor oil was travelling eastbound at the 49.5 mile marker near the Dale exit. For unknown reasons, materials within the cargo trailer ignited and engulfed the trailer in flames.

The driver of the semi was uninjured and was able to pull over and disconnect the rig from the trailer. No other vehicles were involved.

The fire has been extinguished as clean-up efforts continue.

Officials report that traffic has been backed up for several miles.
