1816 Theatrics announces auditions for Lincoln Amphitheatre production!

1816 Theatrics announces auditions for its upcoming production, Keeping Mr. Lincoln, written by Sandra Fenichel Asher.

In this ensemble tour de force, actors—regardless of their own age, gender, or ethnicity—take turns playing Abraham Lincoln and important people in his Kentucky childhood, Indiana youth, and Illinois and D.C. adulthood. The play celebrates Lincoln's life through his own words and those of people who knew him. Lincoln prods and inspires us to embrace our unlimited potential, face up to our challenges, and shoulder our responsibilities. What drove him? What inspired him? What fed and supported his remarkable journey? Though we can never fully know the answers to those questions, we "keep" Mr. Lincoln by continuing to explore them. This play is dedicated to doing just that.

1816 Theatrics will be holding auditions for the ensemble cast and a community chorus to bring this show to life.

Auditions are being held Saturday, April 13 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. CDT at the Evansville Public Library Central location; Sunday, April 14 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CDT at the Nancy Hanks room at the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial; and Sunday, April 14 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. EDT at the Black Box Theatre located in the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in Jasper. Video auditions will also be accepted and can be emailed to [email protected] no later than 4:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday, April 14. Auditions are open for individuals ages 8 and up. Those wishing to audition for the ensemble cast will be asked to perform a cold reading at the audition. Those interested in the community chorus will be asked to perform a 90 second song selection. Those submitting a video should perform a 60 second monologue and/or 90 second song selection.
